Can't we just all get along????
Ok, so on my birthday our President gave his State of the Union Address and all I could think of is one thing "can't we just all get along?" Now I will admit, I call myself a Democrat but I tend to lean towards Republican on a few issues... after all my husband is a small-business owner and Republican! Do I believe that it costs my family $450 a month for health coverage that does not include any preventative care for me and my husband and for my girls after age 6? Oh HELL no! Do I think that my husband's practice should have to pay for all of his employees to be covered? Oh HELL no! Why can't we just regulate the insurance companies... or just make a deal with the doctors themselves... cut out the middle-man altogether??? It just seems like all Washington is doing is arguing right vs. left; Republican vs. Democrat. What about those of us in the middle?!?! Better yet, how do those of us in the middle get our voices heard? If you aren't on the extreme end of the scale, it seems like, you are truly represented. I do have some Democratic views that will never change. I was raised Catholic and I believe abortions are wrong; however I do NOT believe they should be illegal. It is up to that individual what is best for her and if it is getting an abortion then she must deal with God's judgement. It's not up to me to do that. Also not all Democrats are anti-Christian. I am very much so a Christian and also very proud to be. I'll sing it from the mountain tops, if Robertson County had any! So why am I reaffirming my Democratic views... because my husband and 90% of my friends around here are Republicans. I truly feel lost at times. The Robertson Co. Democratic Party always calls to tell me when they are meeting (since I'm a registered Democrat) and I would like to go once to meet some of my kind (if my husband wouldn't make fun of me for going!). I'm also assuming none are exteme "leftist" and more are middle of the road like I am. In all honesty, during the Primaries, I supported Ron Paul. He was a Republican whom not many Republicans liked... my kind of guy! I am proud to be an American and have Barack Obama as my President but I want to make this the BEST country there is... all of this back and forth bickering, left vs. right crap has GOT to end! The only way we will rise above everybody else and this crisis we are in is to ALL be a part of the solution. So let's just all get along.... ARRGHHH!!!
